Cars GBA has many game modes to choose from, but it is divided into two main categories, including racing against other players or racing against time. Each race takes place in 3 stages in which the cores are all related to the control skills. Players need to keep their cars stable on the track, avoiding collisions and obstacles to reach the finish line as soon as possible. In the competition, Chick Hicks is the real opponent, or can also be understood as the villain. He possesses good vehicle control skills, keeping the stability, although the speed is not really high.

There are 13 playable characters, consisting of Lightning (unlocked from the beginning), Sheriff, Ramone, Flo, Doc, Sally, and so on. Each of them is characterized by Speed, Stability, Acceleration and Handling indicators. Therefore, the way they travel on the track is quite unique, and sometimes, it is not reasonable to comment that the faster cars will reach the finish line first when their stability is not really good enough. To unlock these characters, players need to accumulate bonus points every time they win a race. The Sheriff is priced at 8000 Bonus Point, with maximum stability of 5; King with a maximum speed index of 5, and is unlocked at 12000 BP; while Wingo is priced equivalent, with an index Absolute Handling.

The game hosts up to 16 seasons with different scales, the most prominent of which is the Piston Cup, with the participation of almost every character in the film of the same name. Therefore, in order to reach the top and take the champion’s Cup, train hard to drive the car, learn new skills like Powerslide, and collect organic fuels to increase speed on the track.
