DRAGONBALL Z – TAIKETSU is a fighting game, which is quite similar to the famous Street Fight that was previously released. Basically, its control mechanism is quite simple, in which players will take the role of a character to take part in 1vs1 matches. The player can choose Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, or even villains characters like Buu and Broly. Each character will include basic fighting skills, for instance, are punches, kicks, or more painful rotating kicks. Of course, they also have special skills and surely everyone who has seen Anime will understand this. Goku can evolve into Super Saiyan 1 and 2 forms, or his signature Kamehameha. The powerful Final Flash damage attack of Prince Vegeta or the Majin Buu’s Chocolate Beam used to make many Saiyan heroes suffer. However, these techniques will consume Ki resources, represented by the third status bar at the top of the screen. During the battle, Ki will automatically increase when the character is trying to load or in a resting state.

The battles in the game are designed quite briefly and even takes only about 1 minute for players to complete. The system defaults to 90 seconds, but mostly, results will be assigned before the total time runs out. Each character has a health status bar, which will constantly decrease when the enemy is damaged. For each victory, the system evaluates the battle by points and awards Z (Zeni) points to the winners.

DRAGONBALL Z – TAIKETSU has up to 15 characters, including Goku’s friends and villains in the Anime series. However, only 7 of them are available in the beginning, and other characters will be unlocked when the player passes some challenges in other game modes. However, even when you overcame the challenges, they are still not free at all. It requires players to pay in units of Zeni earned from previous victories.

There are 5 game modes that players can choose, from Endurance, Endurance 2x, Tournament, Time Challenge, to Sparring. In terms of the level of challenge and the organization of the battles, there are certain differences. With Tournament, players need to overcome all of the 7 opponents to win the championship and 25,000 Zeni. But it is not that easy when players have to face very strong opponents such as Android 16, Nappa, Raditz, or Frieza. With Endurance mode, the player will control a single character to try to defeat other opponents, while not being replenished health and revived each time defeated. If you want to challenge with speed and power, Time Challenge mode is such a great option. Each battle only takes a maximum of 30 seconds, and if the time is up but the enemy has not been defeated yet, then the player will be the one who loses!
