Alex is a student at the Royal Tennis Academy, who had trained to participate in the world championship tournament. A strange event happened, as a group of strangers came to the academy and defeated the best students, and showed their amazing skills in a single match. Alex felt this was an insult that he decided to find the masked person behind this group. He participated in tournaments for Junior, Senior, and surpassed most of the opponents, but the stranger still does not appear. There only one chance, when he passes the level of Varsity and proceeds to The Island Open tournament in the Mushroom kingdom.

Initially, the player will choose one of two available characters: Alex or Clay to begin the game with. Its mechanism is quite simple, take the role of the character and participate in tennis matches in single or double mode. When the game takes place, try to move flexibly and hit the ball correctly. If the opponent cannot catch the ball and lets it fall off the field, the player is awarded 15 points, vice versa. In the end, the person who gets the higher score wins.

Some skills that can be used during the competition are Topspin, Slice, and Power Shots. In particular, Topspin creates straight shots, with a faster ball speed than Slice, but not enough curvature to cause difficulties for the opponent. As for Power Shots, it will increase the defenses and attacks for the character to have more advantages. MARIO TENNIS ADVANCE – POWER TOUR organizes a variety of events, from amateur to professional, and the most important is The Island Open, which was introduced in the plot. However, in turn, the tournaments will take place on an increasing scale, from Junior, Senior, to Varsity from within the academy, and expand to larger venues. Sometimes, winning the championship is the core key to going beyond the desire to become the best tennis player.

The game has 36 characters altogether to choose from, some of which may be available, while others can only be unlocked when the player defeats them in a certain tournament. For example, Roy is in story mode, Barb is in Island Single-mode, Chas is in Island Double, or Meg is in Junior Double. Not only are the characters formal, but they all have attributes that offer special abilities: speed, technique, defense, strength, tactics, and neutralization (All-Around). However, if he stands out about a certain ability, he will also have another weakness. Usually, if the attack is good, the defense will be quite weak, or if the technique is good, the speed is not really that fast. Depending on the play that the player can choose the right character, and if you are Newbie, you should choose All-Around because he is quite easy to play.
