Apocalypse is known to be one of those crazy people who want to destroy the world and rebuild it in the image he has outlined in his mind. After many attempts, he has always received defeat because a group of mutants still appear and prevent timely, not allowing it to happen. Since then, the X-men have become his mortal enemies. Since the war in Mojoverse, the X-men returned to their shared home to rest, but then, Apocalypse put them into another parallel world. He built this plan a long time ago, and used two armies, Sentinels and Mutants, to finish the heroes. Isolated, the only way to return home is to defeat the person trying to hold them back. But this is not easy, as the enemy’s forces are overwhelming as well as they are being threatened by the mighty alliance from Magneto.

X-MEN – REIGN OF APOCALYPSE is designed in 12 levels, taking place in 12 corresponding areas mentioned in the comic series of the same name. In turn, players will explore each location: Xavier Mansion, Canadian Showdown, Department H, Blackbird, Sentinel Base, Undersea Base, Paris, The Savage Land, Statue of Liberty, Genosha, and Blue Area of the Moon. Each place will have the rule of one or two bosses, starting with Blob and ending with Pyro and Apocalypse. Throughout the game, hordes of robots and guards will always appear to attack players. Although they are quite weak, they are very crowded and even grow stronger. It is also a problem to be noticed because the character has only a limited life force.

Cyclops, Storm, and Rogue are all playable, but only Wolverine is unlocked right from the start. He has an advantage in health, because it recovers quickly, while combat techniques are also implemented quite fast. However, compared to the level of damage, the other teammates are more outstanding. Cyclops can fire lasers to burn off large numbers of enemies, while Storms can create lightning attacks and control tornadoes. The character can also be strengthened every time he levels up. The death of enemies will gain experience, and sometimes could be items of healing. The game is developed on Platformer, so most of the tasks are very simple. It just revolves around moving to the right until the map is out and defeat the army of Apocalypse.
