Battle City has a legend about the Pyramids that is said to be ruled by the five most powerful ancient warriors. They possess rare cards and have the most advanced fighting techniques. But no one seems to be able to step inside the Pyramid, because five beasts called Ghoul guards it. Every year, they are set free for one day, which is known as a bloody massacre day when thousands of people were eaten. Over the years, many people have died trying to access the pyramid to destroy it. But most could not make it past Ghoul’s first gate. A young gladiator accidentally adventures to this land and hear about the “purification” of the weak every year. He became enraged that he decided to take part in furious battles to end the threat to Battle City.

To destroy the pyramid, players need to overcome the challenge with 5 Ghoul monsters first. The system will provide a default set of cards, including different types: Monsters, Summons, Traps, and Spells. However, before starting a real war, it is necessary to understand the effectiveness and usage of each type. Enemies have a source of LP (also known as vitality) with a default of 8000, and in order to lower the LP meter, a demon is needed to use. It will attack the enemy warrior, or directly impact on the character in case of having no defense. Meanwhile, the remaining cards are used for the purpose of setting up traps, adding extra offensive and defensive stats to improve the combat ability of the cards performing attacks, summoning support monsters, or can be combined to create a higher quality 3rd card.

After having defeated all of the five ghouls, the player can enter the battle in the pyramid. It is organized into small rooms and is protected by bosses. Upon defeating them, a new room is opened. This continues until the last boss on the top floor is destroyed. But that is not the only event in Battle City that gamers could take part in. Challenge Cup and Kaiba Corp Cup are held in parallel monthly. Players need to defeat all of the opponents to enter the final and face Kaiba before stepping in the glory as the championship. Target Week and Weekend Tournaments are held weekly, with the focus on exploiting solo matches and providing bonus points. Meanwhile, Limitation Tournaments take place in 10 rounds, with rules and restrictions on the types of cards that require participants to obey.
