Midway’s first extreme sports title focuses on baseball, the great American pastime. Take command of your favorite Major League Baseball teams and players, complete with their stats, attributes, abilities, and attitudes. Slugfest includes a season mode, quick play, exhibition play, and numerous playable minigames.
So, what makes MLB Slugfest so intense? The game is not an accurate baseball simulation, and this is the pinnacle of arcade gaming. Flaming fastballs that take out batters’ ankles (and thus reduce their stats), out-of-the-park home runs, dropkicking the catcher on your way to home plate, kidney punching the batter who just ruined your no-hitter, and a slew of other heinous tactics have brought sportsmanship to an all-time low.
Real player faces and details like chewing gum and talking to teammates or opponents are included in the graphics. Authentic stadiums are all present, as are several fantasy stadiums that can be unlocked.
