Globox, Rayman’s friend, has thrown the entire world into peril. Globox has enraged the Hoodlums by eating Andre, the Lord of the Dark Lums, and they intend to reclaim their master at any cost to the world. Rayman must save the day and find a cure to rid Globox of the Dark Lord.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a third-person platformer in three dimensions. Rayman, the main character, jumps and punches through various colorful levels, with Globox (and Andre inside him) accompanying him and occasionally commenting on the action. Rayman’s primary weapon is his fist, which can fire projectiles at attacking Hoodlums and other enemies. The shots are more powerful when the fist is charged with the “shoot” button.

The game is divided into several worlds, each with a few levels; the game is automatically saved after each class. To progress between worlds, the player must complete a mini-game in which he must surf along light beams in a psychedelic environment.

Rayman can also find power-ups that temporarily grant him special abilities: the green power-up allows him to shoot tornadoes, the blue power-up enables him to use a grappling hook, the yellow power-up will helps him to fly for a short period, the orange power-up allows him to shoot precisely guided missiles, and the red power-up grants him a mighty fist that can bash doors. These power-ups are always required to defeat an enemy or boss or to advance to the next section of the level.

Rayman can find and free the Teensies trapped in cages throughout the level; the Teensies who are freed will express their gratitude by unlocking the next section of the map or summoning some bonuses to collect. Rayman’s health bar grows by six Teensies for every six Teensies freed.

There are numerous hidden bonuses throughout the levels; completing the stories with a high score unlocks humorous animations and mini-games.

The Game Boy Advance Rayman 3 connects to the Gamecube through the link port, allowing you to play exclusive mini-games on both systems and download new levels to the GBA.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are direct ports of the original game, complete with HD textures and a smooth framerate. They’ve also included nine short mini-games.
