In this Mario sports game, Mario plays the sport of soccer. In this version of soccer, there are no referees or rules. The game is played in an arena surrounded by an electric fence, and players are allowed to use various items. Bowser makes an appearance every once in a while to stir things up. You can steal from other players, pass the ball, shoot, deke, and hit others. Players select a side, a team captain, and any additional sidekicks they want. You can access various gameplay modes, including a tutorial, a grudge match, a cup battle, and a custom tournament. A team captain can also perform a “super strike,” which counts as two goals but requires caution because an opponent can still hit the player achieving the move. Although they can’t conduct super strikes, sidekicks can charge their shots to make them more powerful. Lob passes and ground passes are both options for players. You can pull off a one-timer by shooting the ball as soon as a teammate passes it to you after receiving the ball from them. You can strike any adversary, but if you hit an adversary who does not have the ball, that adversary’s team will receive an item. When you complete a goal, you will receive a reward.
