Link is a young boy who lives on Outset Island with his grandmother, one of the many small islands lost in the Great Sea. Link meets a giant bird carrying a girl on his tenth birthday. Link saves the girl, but the bird abducts his sister. Tetra, the unknown girl, is a pirate captain who agrees to assist Link in finding and rescuing his sister. During their journey, the two discover that a powerful, legendary evil has resurfaced and must find a way to stop him.

The Wind Waker is the tenth game in the Zelda franchise. It is an action game with puzzle-solving and light role-playing elements, similar to its predecessors. The basic gameplay mechanics are similar to those in Ocarina of Time: Link explored 3D outdoor areas and dungeons, fighting enemies and solving environmental puzzles. The ability to evade at specific times, which is required to defeat armored foes, has been added to the combat system. Another new feature is the ability to pick up and use some of the weapons used by the enemies. Link, like in previous games, can use tools such as a bow and arrow, a boomerang, and bombs.

To travel to other islands, Link must sail through the Great Sea. He conducts the wind and produces melodies with a baton called the Wind Waker to change its direction. The Wind Waker can also be used for teleportation and puzzle-solving. Link can glide and access remote areas by using wind currents.

The game uses cel-shaded graphics to give it a cartoon-like appearance. The characters’ bodily proportions and facial features are unreal, which adds to the style. Link’s large eyes, in particular, serve a gameplay function, providing hints to the player by looking at specific items required to solve puzzles.
