The Simpsons: Hit & Run is best described as a Springfield-based Grand Theft Auto.
The player assumes the role of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, or Apu and attempts to solve a mystery involving mechanical bees taking over Springfield, mysterious vans, and cola that can control the minds of those who consume it.
The game, like G.T.A., follows a linear path through fifty or so missions. The player must chase cars and figure out where they’re going, collect all the spilling cola cans before people drink them, and track down villains before they flee.
Throughout the game, the player can earn various rewards by completing missions in a certain amount of time or performing outstanding stunts.
All voiceovers are done by cast members, including Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), and Yeardley Smith (Lisa).
The game allows for up to four players to participate in multiplayer action.
