Archon: The Light and the Dark is one of the games that is a good strategy and worth playing. The game was released on Nintendo by Free Fall Associates in 1983. Basically, Archon: The Light and the Dark has something in common with traditional chess. The game consists of 2 opposing sides, one is bright, and one is dark. The two sides will face off on a 9 x 9 chessboard, each with 18 basic tiles and five powerpoints located between each side and the center of the ring. Your goal is to occupy all the powerful points by putting any of your pieces on it or destroy all the opposing pieces on the ring.

Every time your control piece touches an opponent’s piece, both pieces will be summoned to the stage in another world. Here, you will have to control your chess pieces to defeat your opponent, whichever chess piece wins will be returned to the disputed grandeur on the ring, the other side will return to the original position. The color of each square will determine the context of a battle. The battle in the dark will take place on dark squares, and the battle in the light will take place on the bright squares. If the battle took place in a dark arena, the monsters of the dark side would have higher stamina than usual, and vice versa, if the battle took place in the light, the bright side would gain an advantage. In addition, on the ring, there are a number of fixed squares that change color continuously over time, making use of this to make it easier for the player to win.

Basically, a stronger chess piece will defeat the weaker piece in the battle between them. However, a few special cases happened that both chess pieces died at the same time. At this point, both pieces are returned to their original positions. Therefore, players need to consider carefully before deciding to attack any opponent’s chess pieces. This situation will also result in a draw if both sides destroy the last of each other at the same time. Each chess piece has its own advantages and disadvantages, such as the pawn can attack quickly but is limited in close range. Some chess pieces also have special abilities like a phoenix that can deal damage by turning into a fireball while shielding itself from enemy attacks.
