Rolling Thunder is an action, shooting game. The game was released on Nintendo by Bandai Namco Entertainment in 1986. In the game, you will play the character Albatross: a member of the Rolling Thunder unit of Interpol’s World Police organization. During a mission, one of his female colleagues was kidnapped. Her name is Leila Blitz. After receiving intelligence, Albatross learned that Leila Blitz was being held in New York by a secret organization called Geldra. From there, Albatross’s journey began. His goal is to rescue Leila Blitz and destroy this underground organization.

Albatross will have to pass two major mission parts, each consisting of five in a total of ten stages. The game allows the player to start the game from any point during the first five stages. At each stage, there are always small rooms near each other. Players can hide in there to track enemies and devise reasonable tactics, as well as move up to higher or lower floors by jumping or using stairs. The stages in story 2 are basically the same as the first story but more difficult, with more traps and different enemy appearances. At the end of each stage, the footage announcing Leila’s situation is displayed on a large screen.

At the beginning of the game, the player is equipped with a pistol. However, players can find rifles with more firepower and use it instead of the basic gun. Players can find bullets for either weapon by entering the door marked “bullet” or “weapon”. If the player runs out of rifle bullets, they will automatically switch back to the pistol. Albatross is also given a life amount from the beginning. This amount of life has a maximum of 2 accumulated points. Albatross will die if he is accurately attacked by any two gun bullets or a laser. He can also die if he falls into an area without floors.

The main enemies in Rolling Thunder include the strange-faced soldiers called Maskers. There are many types of enemies with different types of masks, each with a unique type of attack. Some Maskers do not fire, but instead, throw grenades or shoot while kneeling. Other enemies include ninjas, mutant bats called Gelzos, yellow creatures called Blogas and lava people. Eventually, the player must fight Geldra’s leader Maboo and complete the mission.
