Action Girlz Racing is a kart racing game where eight females compete in miniature vehicles. The gameplay is quite similar to that of the same developer’s more recent Myth Makers: Super Kart GP. Single-trial, time trial and grand prix are the three game modes. There are three degrees of difficulty (beginning, experienced, and advanced) and three racing classes (50 ccs, 100 ccs, and 150 ccs). Environments in the game include a fairytale castle, a sunset lagoon, an action girlz high, a dolphin bay resort, and a tropical resort. As with many of the developer’s previous titles, most content is locked from the start. Most characters, tracks, and racing classes become available after collecting a certain quantity of flowers as currency during races. The characters differ solely in appearance, not in skills.
While racing, it is possible to collide with other racers, and the tracks have numerous hazards that can slow down or knock racers around. There are eight types of power-ups, including nitro, an umbrella shield, shooting opponents, and stunning them. By collecting diamonds, you can double or max out your power-ups. Tracks frequently contain branching courses, but instead of providing alternate routes or shortcuts, they often lead to dead ends, forcing the racer to return.
The Wii version supports local split-screen multiplayer games for up to four players. The karts are controlled by tilting the Wii Remote left or right while holding it horizontally. The PS2 version allows split-screen gameplay for two players and Multi-Tap for up to four players.
