Boogie is a dance and Karaoke game. The Wii version of this game uses the Wii remote to control the dance, in contrast to most other games of this type, which use specific pads. Using the nunchuck to influence the characters’ facial expressions during Strike-a-pose sequences is unnecessary, but you can if you want to. Boogie comes with a USB microphone that may be used for karaoke. Each song can be danced to or sung as part of a karaoke game. Players will either match the rhythm and pitch of the song, or they will dance to the beat of the music. Because performing too many movements that are identical to one another will result in a lesser score, variation, and combinations are strongly encouraged. A spot on the Boogie meter can be earned whenever a dance is completed successfully. When the player’s health bar is full, they can perform a special move. During dancing, bonus things such as multipliers, tokens, and meter boosts may become available.

A story mode is included in the game, and it is themed around a singing and dance competition across galaxies. There are five distinct personalities, each with a specific backstory. The five main protagonists each get their chapter in the primary story mode, and players can design their unique avatars based on these characters to use in any of the other game modes. Tokens obtained during gameplay can be exchanged for additional content, such as new songs, stages, and outfits. In addition, there is a mode in which players can take control of the camera and produce their own customized music videos.
