The player assumes the position of either Boog, a domesticated bear who is attempting to return to civilization after being released into a neighboring forest owing to an awful misadventure, or Elliot, a crazed one-horned deer who wants to be Boog’s partner in this game. Boog is a domesticated bear released into the adjacent forest due to an unfortunate misadventure.

For Boog to fulfill his objective, he will need to establish his credibility among the forest’s inhabitants by assisting them in evacuating the human hunters. Boog can persuade the creatures to assist him in returning to his hometown once he has earned their respect.

Open Season is an action game with a third-person view that is based on the first film produced by Sony Animation Studios. The player takes control of the main character in the forest and, by tossing various forest creatures at one other, solve the game’s relatively straightforward puzzles (taking into account the age range for which the game is intended). The player can gather “achievement points,” which are not to be confused with the achievement points seen on the Xbox 360, and doing so will unlock additional skills for Boog.
