Sid Meier’s Pirates is a strategic action-adventure game. The content revolves around three characters who are a pirate, a pirate hunter, and a private person in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. The area of the game is the Caribbean and regions like Spain, Central America, the Yucatán Peninsula, the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, the Caribbean Islands, and Bermuda. Players are allowed to move the ship within the above lands. In addition, this area will be separated from the outside by a fence called Trinidad. The game does not have a fixed ending, but it follows an open ending with a single-player mode. Initially, the player will receive a letter of marque service, an authorized service representing the kingdoms such as the Spanish empire, the Dutch Republic, the United Kingdom, the colonial empire of France. Players will be allowed to choose one of the three centuries as 16, 17, 18, as the era of the game. During the journey, players can choose to be a pirate, a pirate hunter, or a private trader. As a pirate, you will have the option to search for buried treasures, attack other ships to loot or raid enemy ships. As a pirate hunter, your task is to catch the raging pirates. If you love peace, you should choose to be private, so you can freely trade, make money. In a certain period, players will have to retire.
