Star Ving is a magnificent planet consisting of several islands connected by shimmering rainbows, house to the Munchables, and the quenchless animals that enjoy eating more than anything. Their most prized treasures are the Legendary Orbs, which keep their lands frugal and abundant in food. The Great Elder governs his joyful people, utilizing his wisdom: tranquillity reigns. One day, their joyous lives suddenly change: a mysterious fleet of extraterrestrial spaceships surrounds the islands, taking over the Legendary Orbs. The aliens in the UFOs can use the incredible energy from the Orbs to gain great power and begin their descent on Star Ving. It is a terrifying army: treacherous-looking, fear-inspiring alive strawberries, peaches, eggplants, watermelons, apples, rice balls, magic mushrooms, and many other ones then it could be believed, all headed by Don Onion, famed in the whole universe for the ultimate mercilessness of his. «What shall we do?» the Elder wonders in despair, then… surprisingly, he is told that the invaders are delectable. A flash of inspiration gives dismay hope: if enemies are tasty, they should be eatable! Now the Munchables know what to do.

In The Munchables, the player is granted control over one of the two Munchables summoned by the Great Elder — the belligerent Chomper, a male one, and the pinkish Munchy, a female —and has to move around and through stages devouring the hostile armies of fruits and vegetables. The playing character in the game has a level: trying to swallow opponents of a level greater than Chomper’s or munchies would end with them being repulsed and stroked, although it is possible to perform a dash attack that will split them into creatures of a lesser level, hence edible. Munchables expand and level up as they consume, allowing them to feast on bigger opponents. On the completion of a group, the player’s performance will be submitted for evaluation: a bonus item is a prize for high enough grades, most of the times consisting of an accessory to decorate Chomper or Munchy.

Controls depend upon the Remote and the Nunchuk: the player uses the analog stick to move the character; moves the Remote upwards to jump -tilting the post to make the jump a forward or an on-a-side one; to eat a space invader, advances in the direction of it and presses the A button when in the vicinity of it; holds Z on the Nunchuk to lock on an enemy as their target; holds down A and, when having charged it enough, unleashes the Turbo Eat power to gourmandize all the unlucky enemies in a row realizing a combo; presses B to strike it by the dash attack parting it, when coming into an enemy of a level superior to theirs. Two players can join forces in a cooperative mode and play Mirror mode, in which classes are modified like an image mirrored by a mirror. A strict time limit encourages the player to haste.
