007: Agent Under Fire is the first James Bond video game released on the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox consoles. The player assumes the role of James Bond, the renowned secret agent, and is tasked with completing objectives in various locations across the globe. Zoe Nightshade, a CIA spy, has been captured by Nigel Bloch, and James Bond has been tasked with rescuing her. Nigel Bloch serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Identicon, a division of Malprave Industries, a highly successful industrial conglomerate. In addition to this mission, Bond is entrusted with recovering the DNA samples now in the possession of Identicon. Therefore, James Bond embarks on yet another exciting mission…
The player can engage in a first-person shooter, which makes up the majority of the game’s missions, a rail-shooter, in which the player’s sole control is their rate of fire, or a driving game, in which they take control of one of the various James Bond vehicles. All of these game types are combined into a single package. The series has been updated to include a plethora of new weaponry, some of which are entirely made up, such as the photon cannon and the 5-way grenade launcher. The player has access to various tools and weaponry, including the Q-Claw, the Q-Decoder, and James Bond’s trusty Walther revolver, among many others. There is a vast range of tasks, and James Bond can complete most of them either with guns or by sneaking around. Additionally, the player is rated at the end of each level based on their score and difficulty level. They can unlock new features for both single-player and multiplayer modes.
