A group of people from the Coast Guard boards an unidentified Russian whaler that a storm has blown off course. They have no idea that a group of CIA officers attempted the same thing not long ago and that all of them ended up dying as a result of their efforts. Within a matter of minutes, the whole Coast Guard squad is informed of their impending doom, except one individual, veteran USCG member Tom Hansen. Now it is up to him to determine what kind of animals killed off his friends and family. Is there anyone who managed to survive? What exactly took place on board this ship? Where does the company’s recent trip to the Russian scientific drilling station “Star of Sakhalin” fit into this picture?
The action-adventure video game Cold Fear is played on consoles and is designed similarly to other games in the Silent Hill series. Most of the time, players will observe the action from a third-person perspective, following their character as he uses a variety of weaponry to eliminate several foes. Sometimes, a puzzle must be solved, or a cutscene must be seen (rendered with the game’s engine). They are reading the numerous notes, letters, and diaries that can be found around now and then, which is an excellent way to pick up some additional information and perspective.
