It is 2049, and Tokyo is in the throes of highly hazardous street riots. A scientist named Dr. Kosugi, who works for the A.R.M.A. firm, is responsible for creating three “humanoids,” highly effective bio-engineered warriors that look up to him as their father. As soon as they discover that Dr. Kosugi has vanished, they set out into the complex parts of the city to find him and exact revenge on those responsible for his disappearance.
Crimson Tears is a hybrid video game that combines action and role-playing aspects. The player can take control of any of the game’s three protagonists—Amber, Kadie, or Tokio—and explore randomly generated, enemy-infested levels while engaging in combo-based hack-and-slash combat with their adversaries. Each of the protagonists has their own set of advantages and disadvantages. Characters can progress through the game’s levels and become more potent by accruing experience points through successful combat.
Constructing new weapons by combining the various weapon components obtained from defeated adversaries is possible. Like the players’ characters, their arsenals can gain experience and level up to become more powerful and require less maintenance as they progress. The heroes can access various combat options, including ranged attacks, blocks, and massive area assaults. The player should watch the temperature meter on their screen to avoid getting too hot.
