Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends is a Dynasty Warriors 3 expansion. In both games, you play as a military commander in ancient China, each with its own set of skills and weaponry.
The gameplay is straightforward: you defeat hordes of variously ranked foes on an open battlefield. Most missions require you to conquer one or more enemy generals. Each character has a unique backstory (this story mode is known as “Musou Mode”), with seven battles advancing the plot. As you progress through the story, the battles become more complex. There is also an accessible mode where you can play any level with any general you have unlocked (you start the game with three generals from three dynasties).
The distinction between Xtreme Legends and the original Dynasty Warriors 3 is that the Musou Mode in Xtreme Legends only has seven unaligned generals you couldn’t play as in the original. There are also new difficulty modes in Xtreme Legends that were not present in the original. A more advanced bodyguard system allows you to name them, customize their progression, and choose from more weaponry as you progress through the game.
