For the upcoming season, the video game ESPN NFL 2K5 includes many brand-new features.

To begin, there has been a significant increase in the scope of the ESPN presentation. Chris Berman, who provided the voiceover for the halftime program in the previous season (2K4), will be participating this season. There is a virtual option available in addition to voice. Chris Berman hosts the pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows and is responsible for introducing each game. He uses replays from each match to illustrate specific issues, which is quite helpful. Only on Xbox is every move you make throughout the same quarter of each game stored and used in these replays. Suzy Kobler provides updates while standing on the sidelines.

The V.I.P. system, which monitors how you play the game and awards points accordingly, is one of the new additions. Your V.I.P. profile will reflect this information if you pass eighty percent of the time and run twenty percent of the time. Later, you can compete against your V.I.P., and the artificial intelligence will act as if it were you when doing so.

This year is ESPN’s 25th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, the network has introduced a new game mode called the 25th Anniversary Mode. This mode lets you relive memorable sequences from famous football games, such as “The Heidi Bowl” and “The Immaculate Reception.”

This year, The Crib has been given a makeover. You receive points when you finish tasks rather than receiving specific items as rewards. These points can then be redeemed for merchandise of your choosing. A dart board and a phone have recently been added to the Crib, and it is up to you to field calls from famous people using the phone. Steve-O, Carmen Electra, Jamie Kennedy, David Arquette, or Funkmaster Flex may phone you and issue a challenge to participate in a game.

Franchise mode also gets a makeover. The ability to organize weekly preparations for your team is new in 2005. To get your squad ready for the upcoming game, you can have the players do workouts, participate in practice games, or view tapes of previous games.

It is possible to play ESPN NFL 2K5 on Xbox Live, and there will be support added for leagues shortly. As long as you have a working internet connection, the game also features “always connected” functionality. This gives it the ability to maintain up-to-date buddy lists, see friends, and get requests at all times, regardless of whether or not you are actively participating in an online game. In the future, there will be opportunities to view updated rosters.
