Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s is an incremental entry in the Guitar Hero series. It utilizes the elements and gameplay of Guitar Hero II but adds an entirely new set of songs to the repertoire. The decade of the 1980s serves as the inspiration for the game’s design, which can be seen in the characters and what they wear, as well as the settings and, of course, the music. It is the final game in the series developed by the company responsible for its inception, Harmonix Music Systems, Inc.
Similar to how it worked in the previous games, the single-player option in this one requires the player to progress through a setlist to unlock progressively challenging songs, which are then categorized into one of four significant difficulties. If you have good performances, you can unlock new themes and venues. However, there are fewer things to open than the other series games. A Flock of Seagulls, The Police, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Asia, Dio, and Anthrax are some of the notable bands featured in this edition. There is no additional content like there was in the previous games.
The player interacts with the game using the guitar controller that was designed specifically for this series. Like in the previous game, co-op, Face-off, and Pro Face-off are all available as multi-player game modes.
