The terrifying video game Kuon takes place in Japan during the Heian period, which dates back to the 12th century. In this game, the player is in charge of three different protagonists. The main character of this tale is an exorcist by the name of Doman. One of the noblemen contacted him to inspect a house that was said to be haunted. When dad doesn’t come back, his daughter Utsuki sets out to find him, and in the meantime, her sister is seduced by the demons that inhabit a mystery castle. She eventually transforms into a monster herself. A young girl named Sakuya, who is Doman’s disciple, also travels into the depths of the demonic world to demonstrate that she is worthy of becoming Doman’s student. When the player has finished playing through the situations involving Utsuki and Sakuya, he can progress to the third scenario, allowing him to experience the story from Doman’s perspective.
The gameplay consists of third-person action as well as the resolution of puzzles. The player has few and dwindling options for protection, just like in every other type of survival horror game. In contrast to the vast majority of games of this type, the only means for the player to protect himself against swarms of undead monsters is not just through physical attacks with weapons. In addition, the player can study spells, cast them, and even call forth creatures (wolves, spiders, and so on) to battle alongside them in the game.
