The action-adventure video game Legend of Kay follows the story of a young hero named Kay, a cat, who steps up to the challenge presented by Emperor Shun, ruler of the giant gorillas, who invade the island of Yenching with his armies. Even though Kay is simply a scholar, he is a courageous and dexterous combatant. He takes only his sword with him as he leaves his town and quickly matures into an experienced warrior.
The battles in Legend of Kay are stylized similarly to those found in Eastern martial arts films. A wide variety of gameplay options are available to the player, including uppercuts, back flips, somersaults, powerful magical strikes, and combination moves. It is much simpler for the player to deliver double or even triple blows once they have obtained a combination because they can auto-aim at their foes. In the beginning, Kay is equipped with a sword; however, as the game progresses, she eventually acquires steel claws and a deadly war hammer. It is possible to improve any weapon, and Kay is forced to combat various foes on the ground and in the air. There is a lot of running and jumping action and several puzzles and battles.
