After the success of SSX, Electronic Arts released SSX Tricky. Utilizing a player’s personality traits contributes to a far greater narrative development than in the first game. Characters with characteristics opposed to one another are more likely to engage in combative behavior toward one another during competitions like races. Adding the Uber trick mechanism brings an entirely new dimension to the gameplay. These are more difficult tactics to pull off, but they will offer you a nice boost in performance. When you complete a string of six Uber tricks in a row, you unlock a super Uber scheme, which awards you with an even more significant boost and triggers the song “It’s Tricky” by Run DMC to play.
Seven of the tunes from the original album are included here, along with two brand-new compositions each from Garibaldi and Alaska. The returning tracks may have up to four times as many shortcuts and hidden lines as the original tracks. Six of the original eight riders are back for the new season (Jurgen and Hiro both had injuries during the off-season), and six fresh faces join them. Mix Master Mike, Aphrodite, and the Plump DJs will provide their mixes to the soundtrack. A “making of” section and “behind-the-scenes” material are included as supplements, much like they would be on a DVD.
