The game is broken up into many parts. Once you complete Sgt Mitchell’s segment, you get to play as Eddie. You play through the same scenario but from two very distinct perspectives. When seen from Eddie’s perspective, certain events that were unclear when viewed from Mitchell’s perspective are clarified. You will take control of Sam for some parts of the game, giving you yet another piece of the puzzle.
The action is broken up into many phases, such as driving, shooting, and sneaking around. You will typically be given a mission, instructed to drive to a specific location, and then be required to either shoot your way to the objective or sneak your way there. In this game, a digital recreation of London has been included, and you are free to drive anywhere you like within the city. As Eddie, it will be up to you to evade capture by the police and other gangs that are giving chase. You can even take over buses if you want to. You can park your vehicle wherever you like and explore London on foot anytime. You have various options available regarding the shooting sequences, such as skulking, concealing, crouching, rolling to the sides, etc. You can stop the police officers from killing you by utilizing the butt of your gun as a melee weapon and knocking down your opponents, or you can prevent them from killing you by taking pedestrians hostage. Eddie also possesses unarmed boxing moves that can help you battle your way out of danger, while Sam can get out of trouble by climbing out of the way or crawling under items to hide. Both of these abilities allow them to get out of trouble.
