The story of Spyro’s birth and his journey to fulfill his destiny is told in the video game The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. The opening sequence depicts Spyro escaping the clutches of the “Dark Master” thanks to the assistance of a Guardian Dragon named Ignitus. Spyro is reared by dragonflies in a swamp when he hatches from his egg. One day, he realizes that he is a dragon, and he and his half-brother, the dragonfly Sparx, leave the swamp to learn more about Spyro’s history and battle evil forces.
Combat, rather than platforming, is the primary focus of this Spyro game, in contrast to earlier entries in the series. Spyro can perform various movements in combat, using both his tail and his claws. In addition, he has four different breath attacks, including fire, electrical, ice, and earth. The game also includes many rail shooter segments comparable to those in titles such as Panzer Dragoon.
