The critically acclaimed television series The X-Files inspires Resist or Serve, adding three new episodes to the seventh season of the show. The game includes not only the soundtrack from the program but also voice acting from the show’s cast members.
Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, and the rest of the paranormal investigation team take a trip to a remote mountain town in the Rocky Mountains to look into the circumstances surrounding a series of baffling and unexplainable homicides. Mulder believes there is more to the case than the two girls who are the primary suspects and who are accused of practicing witchcraft. In the quest for the truth, players are taken from hidden facilities to the FBI headquarters to a remote site in Siberia during each episode, divided into two acts.
The gameplay is comparable to that of the Resident Evil franchise. A stationary camera follows the player throughout the room and rotates to a new perspective at predetermined intervals. The players lock on to their foes before firing, and they cannot move while firing while the game is in progress. For each episode, the player can take on the role of either Mulder or Scully. Each character’s side of the story features unique settings and difficulties, such as autopsies and puzzles for Scully.
The bonus content consists of concept artwork for the game and short movies showing the recorded conversation.
