The manga Hajime no Ippo inspires the video game boxing title Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit. It includes 81 playable characters from the manga, including Ippo, both younger and older versions of Ippo’s coach, the bear that Takamura battles, and any other character that appeared in the manga up until Takamura’s bout with David Eagle. You will also face off against most of these characters in the game’s Story Mode, which recreates nearly every battle from the original manga (except Takamura’s bout against David Eagle).
Because of the controls, throwing jabs, straight punches, hooks, and uppercuts at the adversary is possible. Swinging and ducking are accomplished by holding down one button while steering the character. The characters with special attacks are equipped with them, and the special attacks are thrown by holding down a button and pressing a corresponding punch button. However, it would be best to keep an eye on your stamina, or you won’t be able to hit your opponent quickly enough.
