You take on the role of a young man named Jude Maverick, who is just a teenager. You live in a peaceful community suspended in the air far above the ground, and you are oblivious to the world below it. But one day, your world comes crashing down around you, and you are forced to confront the horrifying truth: the world of Filgaia has been ravaged by war. A few small towns scattered among rusted tanks are the only remnants of civilization. The democratically elected government has some plans for improving the conditions of the world. Still, when you meet a young girl, they use it as a tool for their goal; you realize that you must develop a better plan to save her and the world from total devastation. In contrast to the other entries in the Wild Arms series, the fourth installment does not take place in the Wild West but in a post-apocalyptic environment. Battles are fought using a hex-based system introduced by the gameplay system. Each of the seven hexes on a battle screen can host several series, depending on the situation. You direct your characters across the battlefield while attempting to place the adversary in a location that will be difficult for them to defend. You can also master a wide array of skills and put them to use in combat to improve your position and gain bonuses. The dungeons, just like in the other entries in the Wild Arms series, are full of challenging environmental puzzles to solve.
