The fifth WRC video game series installment is titled WRC: Rally Evolved. It includes the standard game types in a rally game, such as fast races, single rallies, and entire championships. Rally Cross is one of the new game types, and it consists of a race over a multi-lap track that can be played either alone or with multiple people (up to four players on the same screen or sixteen players via the internet). Another new option allows players to compete against multiple-time World Rally Championship (WRC) world champion Sebastien Loeb of France in a series of races in which they begin with a time disadvantage. A final mode allows the player to free-run over a large complex with multiple types of roads in the middle of a large oval track to test more than forty rally cars from the past, present, and future.
The previous game in the series does not compare favorably to this one regarding its features. The voice acting for the Navigator has been improved, and the gameplay now includes a new element: environmental hazards that must be avoided during the race. These hazards can take the form of fire, rocks, animals, or even other competitors.
