Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai is a fight from Dimps inspired by how popular Akira Toriyama’s Japanese anime was. This is the first game made for the PSP, and it introduces us to the world of Dragon Balls.

As befits an actual murder, the game, which you may have seen on TV, has 18 warriors to choose from. There are heroes like Son Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks, and characters like the great Janemba aren’t quite as lovely. This man is also behind all the bad things we must deal with in Dragon Road mode. The movie Fusion Reborn is what “The Dragon’s Path” is based on.

Of the other six ways to play, these three stand out the most: Arcade Mode, where we fight AI-controlled single enemies; Survival, where we have to stay alive in a fight with several enemies at once; and Time Attack, where we have to defeat the forces of darkness as quickly as possible. No matter what mode we choose, we end up in the cartoon arenas after a while (Earth, Budokai stadium, Namek planet, etc.). We show our opponents how to deal with multiple blows at once and attack them with cosmic energy. In the new Saiyan Overdrive system, it’s important to remember that our warriors can change into stronger warriors (like Super Saiyans or Kaio-ken) after filling up the right indicator, which changes the way they fight.

Because of how the goals are shaded, Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai looks like a TV show. The perfectly drawn silhouettes of the heroes and the beautiful, colorful backgrounds stand out. The game also lets you play with other people over Wi-Fi.
