Dream Club: Complete Edipyon! is a new dating simulator game for PSP, PS3, and X360. It has arcade and music elements. The game was made by D3 and Tamsoft studio, based in Japan. The company has been making console games since 1992, most of which have never been released in the West. The people who made Dream Club hoped that fans of the Idolmaster series, which is about managing music groups, and fans of classic romantic visual novels, would be interested in it. Dream Club didn’t sell as well as some of its competitors, but it did have at least a few sequels and spin-offs available on various types of hardware. Dream Club: Complete Edipyon! for PlayStation 3 is a port of the first part of the series, which came out for Xbox 360 in 2009. All the optional DLCs and costumes for the heroines have been added to the productions, making them better.

Plot

The main character in Dream Club: Complete Edipyon! is a typical 20-year-old Japanese man who is single and trying to find a girl but isn’t having any luck. He uses the last money he makes during the day to go to the bar with the hostesses in the evening. In this type of restaurant, popular in Japan, customers are greeted by hostesses who talk or sing to them and try to get them to buy expensive drinks or appetizers. In Japan, there are also hostess bars for women with handsome men.

Mechanics

The game consists of several essential elements and arcade mini-games. The goal is to make one of the ten hostesses happy and win her heart. Each heroine has a different reason for working in the bar, but most do it as a side job. During the day, they do something else, like being a model, a teacher, or a beginner actress. We must get to know girls better before falling in love with them. We learn about the details of their lives from the things they say. During those times, though, they don’t want to talk about their secrets as much. We can make it better if we buy them more drinks and snacks. Each of them affects how drunk the heroine is, which changes how sincere they are.

Players can also watch a karaoke show during the meeting. Then, we play a minigame where we have to press the right buttons to the beat of the music, making our favorite hostess dance along. When our relationships are strong enough, we can ask them out on a date in the city (the scenes have also been presented in a manner typical for visual novel games). The bar is not free to go to, nor are the drinks. Every day, we have to decide on a short-term job that will pay the bills. But other than choosing from the activities on the menu, we don’t have to do anything else in this regard.

How things work

All of the images in Dream Club are in 3D. The game uses cel-shading to make the heroines look like they belong in a Japanese anime movie. The soundtrack is composed of j-pop songs written for the game. Professional actors have done almost all of the voice-over work.
