Another video game based on the iconic bricks, LEGO Batman: The Videogame, was created by Traveller’s Tales and released for the PC, Xbox 360, and other gaming platforms (also known for the well-received LEGO Star Wars series). Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment acted as publisher for the production (WBIE). The video game was made accessible for download on virtually every platform, including personal computers running Windows and consoles of both older and more recent generations. Much like LEGO Star Wars, the game combines the world of LEGO bricks with another universe, in this case, that of Batman.

Plot

The LEGO Batman video game is an action game with some aspects of an adventure game. The city of Gotham is in complete anarchy, as is customary for storylines revolving around Batman. Your mission is to restore calm and defeat the criminals who have broken free from Arkham Asylum, including the Joker, Penguin, and Two-Face. Whenever Batman goes on an adventure, Robin, his trusty sidekick, and Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s devoted butler, always tag along. Throughout the game, you will investigate the universe built out of LEGO bricks, battle adversaries, and work through straightforward logic problems (such as making various constructions, including the Batmobile and villain traps).

Mechanics

The game’s visuals, which are murky and satiny, do an outstanding job of capturing the gloomy ambiance of Gotham City with its shadowed towers and streets. Lighting and the moon in full view are familiar sights, and dramatic symphonic music often plays in the background throughout the many duels and spectacular chases. The fact that it’s a LEGO game gives it a touch of slightly weird humor, drawing in a younger audience and making it more appealing.

The cooperative gameplay found in LEGO Star Wars is also available in LEGO Batman: The Video Game. Each playable character possesses unique skills, which must be utilized to progress through the game. Because some antagonists are playable characters, gamers can compete against one another in Combat. The video game is packed with comedic features, and throughout the cutscenes, you won’t even hear the characters speaking since they’ll grunt and make funny noises instead.
