In the 21st century in 2018, a chaotic battle occurred when General Donald Morden launched a global offensive. With its superior number and advanced equipment, the Rebellion quickly captured the overwhelming advantage of ordinary armies with ease. An important reason for the failure of the regular army is the corruption in the internal mind of the army, instead of listening to the intelligence, the high-ranking officials decided to save themselves, surrender quickly. The failure caused chaos for the people and the city became ruined. Only a handful of soldiers tried to salvage the remains, and soon a group called “Resistance” was formed. However the group is still immature, the enemy was discovered and destroyed. Refusing to give up, Lieutenant Marco Rossi of the special forces of the regular army decided to unify the units and prepare for the start of the sapper combat operation against the rebels. Finally, they defeated rebels, arrested by General Morden and end the conflict.
Overall, Metal Slug Anthology is not too different from the countless other shooting games. So at the beginning of the experience, players need to constantly shoot or throw grenades at the enemy until they die, a series of middle-class opponents and then start facing the final boss that is usually much bigger and stronger. Going through the levels at the same time you will find extremely useful weapons and vehicles ‘slug’ upgrades not only for offense but also for defense. When you use melee mode, instead of using guns players will be equipped with knives or stones. If you encounter too many enemies at once, don’t worry, you don’t die for the simple reason of being in contact with the enemy. The scenery of the game in battles will be destroyed along and sometimes you will find in the rubble there additional useful items. “Metal Slug” will appear in many different forms, be it helicopters, jets, submarines or sometimes mobile suits. The game still has a few minor glitches, but most of the fans of this series only notice that there are few loading screen interruptions that make the downtime longer than the original.
