PaRappa, the rapping pug, fantasizes about impressing his friend, the lovely Sunny Funny, and going on a date with her. But he lacks confidence, so he helps PaRappa rap his way through learning Kung Fu, a driving exam, cooking, and other activities to get the girl. Remember, you must believe it!

PaRappa the Rapper is a songwriting, music, and rhythm game. The game is simple – each stage has a ‘teacher’ who PaRappa must obey. The teacher will utter some words, and PaRappa must mimic him by clicking the relevant buttons to repeat the lines. Rap correctly, and you’ll be able to keep going; fudge the lyrics, and the music will begin to distort, and the teacher will become irritated. If you continue to make mistakes, you will fail the stage.

Of course, the idea is to outperform the teacher, which you can achieve by improvising in the gaps in the song. Listen to how the song progresses and improvise in sync with the music; if you do well enough, the teacher will move aside, and you will be free to freestyle!

The PSP version is a remake of the PlayStation version. It does, however, contain a few changes, such as a 16:9 display, crisper graphics, game sharing, multiplayer compatibility for up to four players, and the addition of music remixes, which can be downloaded onto your Memory Stick Duo via the internet.
