Accord, a teacher at the nearby magic school, cannot locate her magical flying cane. The pupils have heard rumors about a prize and are actively looking for it in every possible location. Naturally, our protagonists Amitie and her school enemy Raffine make their way toward the distant dark castle, confronting – and being challenged by – everyone you come across in a game of Puyo Pop. In this game, the objective is to pop as many buyers as possible in the shortest time.

In the puzzle game Puyo Pop Fever, which is of the falling-block genre, the objective is to remove all of your blocks (Puyos) off the screen by forming groups of four or more Puyos of the same color, which will disappear. This will result in the creation of Nuisance Puyos. These guys will fall into your opponent’s screen, preventing them from creating any chains or combos they may have otherwise been able to. These annoying Puyos can only be eradicated by eliminating the Puyos in the surrounding area.

When an opponent sends Nuisance Puyos to your screen, you can attempt to “offset” the situation by clearing your own Puyos and reducing the quantity of Puyos that could land on your screen. Your Fever Meter will also go up as a result of this. When this meter reaches total capacity, you will be given a set of preset Puyos. Using these Puyos, you will be able to rack up massive combos and deliver your opponent a large number of Nuisance Puyos. When the playing field of any player becomes so filled that they cannot drop any more Puyos, that player automatically loses the game.

A mode for two players is included in the game. Some specific versions support a more significant number of players than others. For example, the DS version supports up to eight players simultaneously competing in free-for-all or team modes.
