Def Jam Icon is the third installment in the hip-hop combat series and the first installment in the series that AKI Corporation did not produce. It is the successor to the game Def Jam: Fight for NY.

One-on-one battles are played with characters modeled and named after thirty well-known musicians, including Redman, Ghostface Killah, Ludacris, Sean Paul, and many others, each with a distinctive approach to their craft. Although there is less emphasis on wrestling today, players can still grab and throw opponents to cause additional damage from the environment to be dealt to them. In contrast to earlier games, which took place in arenas and wrestling rings, this one takes place on rooftops, in the street, and even in a petrol station.

Ghetto Blaster (Street Fighting), Street Kwon Do (Taekwondo), Black Panther (Kung Fu), Muay Fly (Muay Thai), Beatboxer (Boxing), and Jah Breaker (Capoeira) are the six accessible styles. Jah Breaker (Capoeira) is the newest addition. Because there is no HUD, you must figure out how much damage each character has taken based on their stats. You’ll notice that the arena will move in time to the beat of the song playing when you’re competing in any battle style, which opens up opportunities for special moves and increases the damage you take.

Characters are a good fit for you; you can choose a character using an upgraded version of the F.A.C.E. system. This time, you can personalize every aspect of your personality, from a skin blemish to a weird nose. ICON comes with a soundtrack that has 29 songs. When one of the combatants’ songs plays in the background, they perform more effectively.
