F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the sequel to F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon and maintains the supernatural horror and suspense that has been a signature of this series. Many gameplay elements from the first-person shooter that inspired this game have been incorporated, including intelligent A.I. and slow-motion bullet time. In addition, new gameplay components have been added, such as the ability to grab and pull movable covers, fight mechs, and shoot with an iron sight. The settings are now more open, less linear, and more diverse than in the first game. In addition, the controls have been improved.

Point-Man, the main character from the original F.E.A.R. game, has been replaced by Michael Becket, a Delta Force operator tasked with apprehending Armacham president Genevieve Aristide some thirty minutes before the first game’s conclusion. Alma, the peculiar little girl, will appear again to terrify you while assisting you in certain situations.

The game only considers the events in the base game and does not consider any of the happenings in the Extraction Point or Perseus Mandate expansion packs.
