With the release of Madden NFL 07, the Madden series came back on the Xbox 360 and debuted on the PlayStation 3. The next-gen version presents everything in its own visuals and physics engine and includes many of the same new features released in the performance for the generation before it. In addition, it adds numerous things that were lacking the previous year and also included several features that are exclusive to itself.
Most of the recently implemented changes to the gameplay, such as the Highlight Stick, Lead Blocker Control, and the new kicking meter, have been incorporated into this version. The Franchise mode returns with very few changes from the previous year. As a result, it does not include elements from prior generations of the game, such as Storyline Central or Owner Mode, or the newly added draft scouting and college all-star game. However, the Superstar Mode from the previous year is finally making its debut on the new generation of gaming systems. This version of the mode has a different emphasis than the one found on the older platforms. It is less focused on the player’s appearance off the field and does not mention product endorsements or movie deals. Instead, it focuses on the athletic side of the player’s career rather than their public image off the field. The final objective, just as it was in the version for the generation before this one, is to induct the superstar player into the Hall of Fame.
In place of Madden Challenges and Madden Cards, which were included in prior generations of the game, a brand-new feature called Madden Gamer Points has been introduced as an exclusive addition. Throughout playing the game, players can earn points by achieving specific goals in the various game types. These points can then be wagered in one-on-one offline matches against other players. When you get enough of them, you can access previously locked content, such as the Hall of Fame players and different player types for the Create-A-Player mode.
