Madden NFL 09 is the nineteenth installment in the famous American football video game series. Except for Windows, which received annual releases from Madden NFL 97, it was released on all major platforms at the time.
The fundamental gameplay features are unchanged from the previous edition, with several modifications and upgrades. For the past 60 years, the Franchise mode has been modified to allow for team management. A rookie player can be created in Superstar mode, or imported from NCAA Football 09, to improve their skills and become one of the best players. There is a possibility to retry specific areas, and an analysis tool allows a thorough examination of the techniques and errors. Three accessibility options for novice players are one-button gameplay, handicapping settings, and adaptive skill levels that replace the standard difficulty levels. The game can be advanced to the following change of possession with Super Sim, and there are various celebration routines to pick from.
As with prior editions, an updated, fully licensed player roster, graphical improvements, and gameplay upgrades exist. A few features from previous editions are back (Grudge Match, Slide Protection, etc.). A Virtual Trainer with twelve drills in a holographic environment is introduced.
