The events in Transformers: The War for Cybertron, which take place on the Transformers’ home planet of Cybertron, chronicle the narrative of the Transformers long before they came into contact with Earth. This aspect of the Transformers’ history has already been addressed in video games based on the movies from 2007 and 2009.
In a third-person action game that utilizes the Unreal Engine to display the robots and their environs, players can choose to side with either the Autobots or the Decepticons in single-player and online co-op campaigns that can accommodate up to three players. The player can run, leap, shoot, and transform while completing the tasks on each side, each containing a unique tale. In the single-player mode, the player is accompanied by two other Transformers, which can be controlled by the artificial intelligence or the player themselves. Because this is a Transformers game, one of the most important features is the ability to change anytime. This allows players to navigate the game’s environments as a walking robot or a vehicle that can drive or fly. Both modes offer various ways to move about and wield weapons.
There are six online multiplayer game modes, including Deathmatch, Code of Power, and Countdown to Extinction. There is also an option for players to create their own custom Transformers character by selecting from one of four different classes. Online multiplayer is available.
Voice actor Peter Cullen, who has been involved with Optimus Prime since the commencement of the Transformers franchise in 1984, will be reprising his role as the character.
